This Sunday 26th February we shall be gathering at St. George’s for our monthly “Together in Worship” Family service. We meet in the church hall at 10.00am for breakfast and the family worship begins at 10.30am in church!

All are welcome!

Ash Wednesday at Holy Commotion

We have had a fantastic time at Holy Commotion this evening! We have begun the Lenten season by learning about the real meaning of Shrove Tuesday and why Ash Wednesday is called Ash Wednesday. We ate pancakes (kindly and lovingly made by Mrs Epps!) to remind us that the Lenten Fast has begun and prepared ourselves for a reflective Lent.

We also celebrated a very peaceful and meaningful Holy Eucharist and all who were gathered received the sign of the Cross on their forehead as a reminder of our mortality.

We shall be meeting TONIGHT for Holy Commotion at 6.30pm in the school hall as usual.

It’s Ash Wednesday and that will be our theme. A Eucharist with Ashing will follow at 7.15pm for those who wish to stay.

Holy Commotion Finance

Many thanks to all who gave generously at the last Holy Commotion gathering. The collection totalled £28.67.

We need to collect £50.00 per session to cover our costs so we were £21.33 short of our target. Since the last communication several families have pledged support – for which sincere thanks.

There will be a collection again on Wednesday so, if you are able, please bring your donation along.

We shall be meeting again next Wednesday 22nd February at 6.30pm as usual in the school hall. Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday - the beginning of Lent so our theme will be Lent! There might be some pancakes…

Next Wednesday 22nd February, is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of LENT!

We shall be meeting at school as usual for a Lenten Theme at 6.30pm. There will also be a special Holy Commotion Eucharist at about 7.15pm for those who wish to stay. This will include the traditional ashing ceremony.

Palm Sunday Procession with Donkey and Passover Supper

On Palm Sunday 1st April we shall be gathering at St. John’s Church in Lemon Street at 9.45am for our, now traditional Procession to St. George’s for Mass at 10.30am. It would great to break all records this year with a record turnout! In a world where Sunday has just become another shopping day our procession is an effective witness that Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week. Do come and join us!!

Our Bi annual Passover Supper will take place again this year at St. George’s on Palm Sunday, 1st April 2012, at 6.00pm in St. George’s Hall – Tickets will be available soon at £10 per head OR Family ticket at £25, this is fully inclusive of Traditional Lamb dinner and wine (soft drinks as well) after the traditional Passover Ceremonies.

If you’ve never been to a Passover Supper before, this is a great opportunity.

Holy Commotion ‘Noah’ evening

We had a fabulous time last night at Holy Commotion!! The children made a fantastic Rainbow out of scarves and other materials whilst the adults revisited the story of the Covenant made by God with Noah! after the flood!

Holy Commotion TONIGHT!

We meet again this evening at 6.30pm at Archbishop Benson CEVA School! Our theme is “Noah” and we are planning to create a rainbow using colourful scarves, drapes etc so if you have such items please bring them to contribute to the Rainbow!! All will be returned, of course, at the end of the evening!!

Following an emergency meeting of the Planning group this evening we need to raise more income to cover our costs! We have established that it costs us on average£50 per Holy Commotion session which includes amounts for our insurance cover and the rental of the school hall.

Currently our average annual income from giving and fundraising amounts to £485 whereas out total expenditure amounts to almost £1,000!!

It would really help if all those who attend Holy Commotion could contribute to our running expenses by way of the collection on Wednesdays when we meet. In these hard pressed economic time even an amount of £1.00 per child would go a considerable way towards alleviating our financial difficulties!! There are Standing Order forms available for those who would like to give a regular amount through the bank.

Details of our Print Cartridge recycling scheme will be available soon so please save your empty ink cartridges for us - watch this space.
